Our Story: The Spirit of Bayede!
A Conversation Over Tea
Born from a conversation over tea with King Goodwill Zwelithini and Queen Mantfombi in 2008, Bayede! was founded by Antoinette Vermooten with a vision to create sustainable employment through premium products. What started as a conversation about hope became a royal mandate: create sustainable opportunities for South Africans. With the King’s blessing and royal seal, Bayede! was launched in 2009.
Farm to Glass
In 2025, Bayede! entered a joint venture with De Goree Farm, a heritage-rich, Black-owned vineyard in the Western Cape. De Goree shares our vision for a proudly African, globally relevant wine industry rooted in empowerment, sustainability, and legacy. Together, Bayede! and De Goree bring a new era of transformation - from farm to glass.
