Bayede! Extra-Old (XO) Royal Brandy is a rare, premium Cape Brandy that is crafted by appointment to His Majesty, the late Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini.
Bayede! embodies royalty, history, culture, and quality, and is a truly South African brand – as well as being the first “by appointment to” brandy on the African continent.
XO Royal Cape Brandy
Bayede! XO Royal Cape Brandy has won multiple awards, including the trophy for the best Spirit in South Africa, the Michelangelo International award, and a Gold Medal at the Old Mutual Spirits competition.
It comprises a blend of 10-14-year-old brandies that deliver a delicate peach and apricot scent with a hint of clove and curry leaf, and is double distilled in copper stills using Colombard and Chenin Blanc base wines and matured in French and American oak barrels.
This results in a brandy that is smooth on the palate and produces a delectable vanilla and honey aftertaste.
More Bayede! products
Bayede! also specialises in wine and other spirits, including an assortment of gins and royal brandies, and has something for every pallet and taste.
The magnificent, stylish Bayede! Queen Nandi Method Cap Classique (MCC) Brut Rosé wine has a beautiful pink colour and an elegant, fruity bouquet aroma with a fresh acidity on the palate.
This MCC is always a great choice as it will complement any occasion.
Bayede! has also launched its BRoyal range, which is an easy drinking range that can complement food or be enjoyed on its own with good friends.
Notably, the Bayede BRoyal Cabernet Sauvignon 3 Litre Bag in a Box was recently released, and sports a beautiful upmarket design with a straight cultivar.
Another great option is the Bayede! V&L Gin – an impressive distillation of fermented mash and grain with distinctive tasting notes of potpourri flowers, rose, geranium, candy, and liquorice.
Bayede! launches Royal Reserve range
Bayede! is excited to announce the launch of its new Royal Reserve range, which brings new premium wines to Bayede! customers and friends.
As part of this range, you can look forward to Bayede’s first ever Bush Vine Chenin Blanc – from the grapes of a 75-year-old vineyard.
You can also expect an award-winning, barrel-fermented Syrah, as well as amazing Royal Jubilee Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc.
This range will be launching by the end of October.
The Bayede! story
Bayede!’s goals extend beyond creating award-winning spirits, however, and it has a strong focus on job creation and women empowerment.
This was key to the company’s founding in 2009, which was initiated by a meeting between Antionette and Ben Vermooten, and the late King Goodwill Zwelithini Khabekuzulu.
King Zwelithini invited Antoinette Vermooten to help him create jobs in South Africa, as well as to assist with building income streams for women in rural areas.
Alongside the resulting wine business, Antoinette noted how much she loved the Zulu beadwork that is done by women in the areas which Zwelithini sought to make a difference, and this has been incorporated into Bayede!’s wines – as every bottle has beadwork around the neck to symbolise job creation.
All of this beadwork is done by ladies from the rural areas of South Africa, with many of the women who form these beading groups having been involved since the company’s inception.
This project has helped these women put food on their families’ tables, pay for their children’s educations, and much more.
Furthermore, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Bayede! started a non-profit organisation – called Bayede! Women Empowerment Foundation – which helps communities by offering responsible drinking training, and also covers issues such as domestic violence.
To date, Bayede! has sold over 1.5 million bottles of wine, has paid more than R1.4 million towards South African beaders, and boasts the exclusive right to develop the first Royal and ‘by appointment to’ wine, spirit, and product range on the Africa continent.
Our hard work has been recognised, and Bayede! was named the best SMME in the Western Cape by the Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA).
Moving forward, Bayede! aims to build the brand into one that is globally recognised, and has already exported its products to countries like Russia, China, Germany, Brazil, Sweden, Canada, and India, as well as across Africa.
Bayede! products are also available in Comair and Bidvest airport business lounges, as well as on Comair and SAA flights.
